Purchase a body brush with a long handle (to access your back) with soft, natural bristles. Always keep your brush dry; never wet it. Dry body brushing can be done DAILY (best in the a.m. before your shower) and only takes 3-5 minutes! The technique is simple using circular motions with the brush for the joints, hands and feet and long, sweeping motions for going up the legs and arms. Start with your feet (top and bottom); going up the legs (front and back); buttocks area; make circular clock-wise motions on the abdomen; across the chest area towards the armpit; sweep up the arms to the armpit, starting at the fingers; work down the neck towards the chest and back. Avoid the face and genital areas. Always work towards the heart!
Precautions: If you have sensitive skin, eczema, a rash or inflamed area on the body, avoid dry body brushing. If you have a port, avoid brushing directly on and around the port area. Brushing with a hard bristle brush, or brushing too vigorously, or too frequently, may cause micro-tears in the skin, which may lead to infection.
